Atlanta Teak Furniture was started in 2005 by owner Matt Smith.
In January 2005, Matt left the corporate world and traveled to Thailand where he taught English in a
Thai public school on the island of Ko Samui for six months. While in Thailand, he was taken
aback by the beauty and craftsmanship of the Thai furniture that he routinely saw on the country's
beaches. After forming a relationship with a renowned Thai manufacturer, he returned to the United
States and Atlanta Teak was born.
Atlanta Teak operates with a simple yet effective business model: we sell high quality furniture at a
fraction of retail pricing because we maintain such low overheads. All of our customers have the
opportunity to see the furniture first-hand at either our Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC warehouse
locations. Over the years, we have found this does wonders in assisting customers with their
purchase decisions.
2009 marks our 4th year in business!

Atlanta Teak's Current Charity Work:
Matt's experience in Thailand gave him a connection with the Thai people, and that is why Atlanta
Teak Furniture donates a portion of its profits each year to www.mercycentre.org. This is a
Thai non-profit organization that supports Thai orphans with their social and economical needs.
Thailand is a wonderful country, and Atlanta Teak is proud to give back to its people.
Donation Letter
Atlanta Teak Furniture also uses its company delivery truck to deliver donated furniture to recently
homeless families through the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Owner Matt Smith volunteers 2 hours per week at the Atlanta Children's Shelter. This is a wonderful
organization and a great local charity if you are looking to make a donation this year.
